Alvin’s main area of practice is in civil and commercial litigation, including alternative dispute resolution. He has advised and acted for private individuals, SMEs, banks, private and listed corporations, and insurance companies in diverse matters – including international arbitration, credit control and risk management, debt recovery and enforcement, corporate insolvency and bankruptcy, insurance claims and recovery, injunctions to restrain the dissipation of assets, breach of directors’ duties and shareholders’ disputes, employment disputes, real estate and tenancy disputes, as well as matrimonial and family law (including collaborative family practice).
Alvin is a Senior Lecturer at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, School of Law – where, amongst other courses, he teaches Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct, Trial Advocacy and Mediation Advocacy. He is also a Teaching Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education, where he is a tutor and trainer in legal skills such as, drafting, trial advocacy and mediation advocacy for law graduates sitting for the Bar Examinations. Alvin is also a Senior Trainer with the Adjunct Training Faculty of the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC). He has trained professionals from education, medical, legal, and public sectors, grassroots and community leaders, foreign dignitaries, as well as the Thai and Myanmar judiciary.
Alvin is an Associate Mediator with SMC and a member of its panel of assessors, a Volunteer Mediator with the State Courts of Singapore, a Senior Mediator under the Law Society Mediation Scheme, and a member of SMC’s panel of Collaborative Family Practitioners. He is also an Accredited Mediator with the Regent’s University (School of Psychotherapy and Psychology), London.
